Two Post Lift Won't Work

My 22' x 38' garage has 11' (132 inch) wide slabs. The two post lift is 139 inches wide. Because of the restrictions on how close you can drill to the edge of the slab I would have to place the lift off center on to the ajacent slab. That is not going to work especially if I am storing a car on it. The post would be in the way and prevent a car from being on the slab next to the lift.

I do not want a 4 post lift so I have turned my focus to the mid rise scissors lift. It is portable, will allow me to do everything I want to do but, I will not be able to store a car under it. But sometimes you can't have everything. Has anyone had experiance or recommendations on these lifts? Who did you buy it from?
Thanks,
Dan

As much as I really want the two post, I can't get approval from the "budget committe" to fix the slab and buy a lift. So it looks like the scissors lift is it and I will lose the parking ability, oh well!!

Why not a 4 post??

I know they are used every day in every shop in the country, but 2 post lifts scare the hell out of me. always looks like the first person that sneezes is gonna blow the car right off the lift.

The reasoning behind my use of a 2 post is simple it is hard as hell to remove an axle housing from a Jeep with a 4 post, you cant roll your engine crane under the front of your car to pull a motor with one. I know most guys dont do that kind of work in there home shop but I do on a regular basis. so know you know Why not a 4 post

If you get the trolley jacks or even 1 removing axles on a 4 post is not really any harder than on a two post. It's just different.

Yanking a motor is a bit of a pain on a 4 post but is also doable (with the right engine crane/lift combo). Personally I'd rather have the 4 post than a mid rise scissors lift.

How much extra is it to fix the slab? If it were me, I'd hold off until the budget allows. It sounds like you're not going to be happy with the scissor lift in the long run.

Even fixing the slab would leave a 2 post obstructing the other side side of the garage as it would be off center. Perhaps if the builder would have really given me a 24 foot wide garage INSIDE measurement, it would be cool.

The 4 post is not an option because we don't think we will be in this house that much longer....like until I retire or get laid off...whichever comes first...haha.

Looked at the midrise today and will probably pick it up tomorrow. Pictures will follow.
