Looking for a two post lift and am struggling with what size I can get. I have two control joints in the concrete floor (4" thick 4000psi) they are 154.5" apart spaced evenly off the center of the bay. My problem is I think I want the wider lifts (bendpak) which are 145" wide leaving 4.75" from the control joint not the Needed 6". Will I suffer with 13" less drive through distance. Or do I compromise and go with a Direct Lift which says it has a 95 8/8" drive through width vs. 89" on the bendpak??? Travis

I've got mostly fullsize vehicles (Chevy Crew Cab Diesel, Yukon) How would I go about installing the wider lift with the control joints that close?

Mount hoist on steel plate, cut floor add more concrete. I wouldn't even worry about the control joints as long as the floor is solid. Is there rebar in the floor?
Thanx Trevor

Floor was poored in September there is plenty of rebar. The control joints are 1/2" deep. I remeasured today and I'm at 5 1/2" from the joint. I'm SOOOO close. Most of them only call for 3000 PSI concrete and I'm at 4,000. Just go for it????

Personally I wouldn't sweat it since it is reinforced concrete.
All concrete cracks, control joints just make the cracks look pretty.

You should not mount any closer than 6" to any crack, edge or expansion joint. You are confusing a trowled grove to control cracks with an expansion joint, they're not the same thing. You're ok as long as what you have is not a true expansion joint which goes through the entire depth of the concrete.

Not a troweled joint, it's a 1/2" deep saw cut. So I'm OK to mount 5 1/2" away from this??? Travis

I don't think it makes any difference if the grove was troweled in before the concrete was set vs. cut later seeing that it's only a 1/2" deep. I believe you're fine with placing anchor bolts 5 1/2" from the cut.
