Yeah I'll bite... I never understood the need for semi-deep sockets till the other day I needed to remove some glow plugs (without removing the injection lines) and the short wasn't deep enough and the deep didn't give me enough tail room to get it out after unthreading it.. Grr..

Thanks

Agreed, I've been keeping an eye out for semi deep sets. Anyone know if this is really a "great" deal though? Seems marginal to me but I could be wrong.

Got mine. I'm not thrilled with the finish, but nothing bad enough to send any back.

Pics show the sets (one came on a plastic twist-lock rail, the other on a standard metal rail) and a comparison between shallow, semideep, and deep. All three are 10mm.

Should I get these or the Gearwrench sets? I need some semi-deep 1/4" and wanted to know which brand was better. I can get both Gearwrench sets for $72 shipped so the price is close. COO is not an issue.

Opinions on the SKs for those who received theirs...

How is it that something I did not even know existed is now causing me to lust, drool, and try to justify my wanting of a set?

Thats what a bandsaw is for. I have many strange sockets that I made to a custom length.

I've made plenty of custom tools in my day, I'm not near tough enough to deal with pulling sharp chrome shards out of my hands, and slicing/dicing a chrome socket would create a rough edge for sure. Will I ever encounter that "I need a mid length" socket situation again? Dunno.. But next time the situation will be covered.
