Here is my ever evolving workshop. Right now I'm converting it to a wood working space but previously it has served as hang out space and auto rebuild space. It's 22x20, insulated and heated/cooled. It is also used for general household storage.

Right now I'm in the process of installing duct work for dust collection for several wood working tools as well as future expansion as I add more tools.

Figured I would say hello and share some pictures as I go:

Lastly for tonight my 12 LED shop lights from SAMs club showed up today so that will be coming to the garage soon.

I'm moving very slow on the garage setup this go round but I'm okay with taking my time to get it right.

On a side note, here was the first project with my planet and table saw using local, swamp recovered rough cut cypress. Potting table with sink for my wife.

Awesome! Finest tablesaw for the money in my estimation :)

Nice looking dust collection system, do you run an in-pipe bare ground wire to contain static?

Thanks. I bought the saw a few months ago in fully restored condition with all new bearings, arbor, belts, paint, leeson USA 3hp motor, resurfaced top, etc. also had new biesemeyer fence and rails and an incra miter. Love it.

I picked up a 500' roll of bare 18ga braided copper. I'm running it through the inside and coming out at each coupler/joint. I'm also going to spiral wrap the outside. Then all the wires will be wire nut connected together to create a seamless ground from tool to dust collector.

The dust collector is a Oneida v3000. I can't wait to get everything setup and working. :)

For fun, here is the last car transform that I did in the garage:

1997 3rd gen 4Runner with 187k miles when brought home

After full interior and exterior gut and restoration

Everything was done with toyota parts mechanically. Converted to manual hubs and all new interior. The exterior was mostly new except the engine and trans. Engine only needed seals but otherwise was in great shape. I really miss it. :(

Thanks Herb!

Nice shop and upgrades. What do you like to make (woodworking)?
Nice job on the potting station.

I honestly don't know. I've always built and made things over the years but this will be the first time I've setup a real shop. I'm planning to make some furniture for our house and a few more pieces for the garden area so I guess those will be my first items. After that I'll just have to see what I get interested in. I think I'd like a band saw to try sawing my own boards out of some logs and I also, think I'd like to try turning on a lathe at some point too. :)

Good looking space, I remember when you posted that 4runner before.

I had forgotten I previously posted the 4Runner. It was a great experience but most certainly a money pit once you start a restoration. Ended up with a new F350 diesel due to a large camper purchase so I let the 4Runner go to a new owner due to the interest in camping and because I simply couldn't keep everything due to space limitations. I miss it though.

More work on the dust collection today. Found some 4" to sewer couplers that work better for the 4" flex hose connection.
p1995690668-4.jpg

As you can see I have 18ga braided copper wire pulled through my ducting all the way to the machine. It is split at each major coupler though so that I can more easily reconfigure if needed to later. I'll be coming back with an outside spiral wrap of the same copper wire and joining all of the various runs with wire nuts along the way where the ends meet. Doing this to kill static shocks.

Started fitting up my homemade 4" overhead blade dust collection. Blade guard is a sharkguard.

Here is how it turns out. I think it looks okay and works pretty nice. The scrap of EMT taped to the pipe is simply to give something to support the flex hose. I can't strap to the ceiling because of the garage doors travel path.

Next up I turned my attention to getting my Lee Valley self cleaning aluminum gates mounted up on each of the drops so that I can actually use this thing. The drop pictured here with the table saw drop will be for the planer. I'm going to mount it under the saw extension table to utilize otherwise dead space.
p2044455767-4.jpg

This one will have a catch box built to it to catch the discharge thrown behind my miter saw. Have to finish up and get the table saw running before I can build this.
p2011091319-4.jpg

Will post more pictures as I go. I've got another branch to run off of the dust collector that will serve the jointer and future sander and router tables. They will be out in the middle of the room and the dust piping will drop down from the ceiling into the middle of the 3 or 4 tool group.

Man everything looks great. What an awesome tablesaw you are starting out with. They don't make them like that anymore. Love you dust collection. Everything looks spot on. Can you post more info on the sewer coupling you made to hookup to the 4" hose.

They way I hooked mine up was by slicing 13/16" of an inch out of the sewer pipe and sliding it inside a piece of the green sewer pipe. This made the right diameter to slip inside the 4" hoses. It works well but is time consuming to make.

Also I have the same miter saw I made a shroud go on mine. I still need to get some clear poly material to make dust curtains to hang right behind the saw.

Look forward to the rest of your build.

Thanks bro. I'm moving very slow. A bit overwhelmed as I seem to have about 50 projects going at once. But I'm making progress.

Here are the two pieces I used to drop from 6" sewer pipe to 4" sewer pipe and then to 4" flex hose.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I will look for those next time I go to Lowe's. I know what you mean every time I finish a project seems like 2 more get added.

Yeah man. I got all the stuff at lowes so you should be able to find it.

My problem is I started too many projects at once and they all sort of overlap with each other too. LOL

I've been working on a backyard remodel now for around 10 months and it still isn't finished but I've made huge progress there and have it down to about 15% to go. Added a deck, a huge gravel patio, an irrigated raised garden, etc. still have another raised bed garden to add but so far I've installed a pallet of sod, 9 yards of stone by shovel, 2 yards of soil by shovel, and about 20 bags of concrete making footers. Whew. Lots more than I thought I was getting myself into when I started. :)

This was just a grass blank slate last August.

My first ones were cedar and they didn't last. The cedar, bought at local lumber supply, began to rot away after only a few years. The galvanized troughs hopefully make it a decade or two though. :)

Slowly moving forward I started on the second branch tonight. I didn't want to use any 90 degree couplers but it was the only way to make the pipe stay out of the way as much as possible. Had to use two 90's but everything else is using 45's like on the other branch. Should still be fine air flow from the v3000.

Looks good man. As far as the 90's they do slow things down but I have one of the angle tees under my table saw that I hook the planer to and the 90 is facing the complete wrong way but the dust collector still captures every spec of dust from the planer. As long as you have a good DC which you do it will be fine. The problem arises from guys building an entire system like you have and trying to run it with a 1hp DC. It just doesn't have the suction for a large network.

Ran out of 6" pipe so this is all the progress for tonight. Will get another piece tomorrow or this weekend to finish this up.
