What type of flooring should a guy such as myself stay away from with the southern environment such as Texas?
Type of floor for south?

I am in North Florida (horizontal with Houston - SA I think) anyway, I have painted concrete and pretty happy with it.
I am not sure of your humidity but around here I would worry about a lay on the floor type system and mold developing. In other garages I had a large piece of carpet and that worked well for a while but dirt became an issue and ended up throwing it out and finding another used piece.

I went with the Armstrong VCT, and am wery satisfied. I have a small garage 20X20, and it cost me just over $300 including adhesive. So far, it is holding up very well. Easy to install and it seems to make the garage cooler.

Do you know if they do that in a solid color?? I am not big into checker board style....well I guess duh you could just buy in just one color....sorry had a blonde moment
Home Depot (Fort Worth) has 5 or 6 colors in stock, gray, off white, and a couple of others . I had to special order the black and white. That took 2 weeks to get in, but you could swing by and check out the colors. Be aware that I had to get 10 boxes, and it was really heavy. About 60 lbs a box.

I avoid all big box stores if possible.....as a consumer you would think your getting the best deal over all with these stores when your actually not....plus being in the tool industry I support my hardware stores and tool stores
Plus customer service in those big box stores ****.....its always impossible to find someone to help you when you have questions...were as a hardware store its much easier to find someone

Im with ya on that one. I dont like what homdepot stands for... Establish the name, and then turn it into ****, and charge the same amount.

When someone wants to sell something in these big stores this is how it goes
Manufacturer walks in and advised of price...usually lower then what others usually get it for
BIG BOX store says "Here is our price that YOU will sell it to us for which is going to be 20% below that"
See there is no money to be made in the big boxes...unless you manufacturer the item to such low tolerances
