Need a recommendation for a 5’x8’ Flag for my flag pole. I like nylon flags because they wave so much easier in the wind but they don’t hold up in our Nebraska winds like the cotton/ polyester blend flags do. Does anyone have any recommendations on which flags to buy and typically how long they last? Definitely need something made in the USA and if some of the proceeds go to a good cause, that would be a bonus. Like most, I don’t mind paying more as long as the quality is there.

Annin. They have a few outdoor versions with reinforce corners. Thier Polymax ones are pretty good. All made in the USA.

Unfortunately, wind will tater just about any flag at some point. I had some very nice ones last less than 24 hours in the wind in Iraq. Same style flag lasted 2 years on ND, but niether were the Polymax I have now. Only had it a short while...we'll see how it lasts.

I purchase mine at a local flag manufacturer, Eder Flag in Oak Creek Wisconsin. I prefer using cotton, they seem to last longer. My pole is 30’ with a large LED base light, I fly a 5x8.

I get mine from my local Assembly person or my Congress person. The cost is reasonable and you can have them flown over the Capital if you would like. I did that for my dad on his birthday, the 4th of July. They include a letter telling when it was flown over the capital. My representative has both nylon and cloth ones. I just called and sent in a check and they mailed me the flag. And they are all American made.

This is the 3 by 5 I bought for the house. We have two 4 by 6’s at our firehouse (US and Texas) from the same brand. few years back we committed to replacing them at the same time annually. We would sometimes have flags that would seem to last longer but with the one year rule they always look decent until we take them down. The first thing to look for is embroidered stars - if everything is printed on the flag it won’t last long. And tattered flags just look like you don’t care.

If you have a local (or not too far) domestic flag maker it’s worth a trip to see their showroom.

X2. Only flags I buy. I think they're the Official flagmaker for the US Government. Been making US flags for around 175 years. I went to High School with the guy who runs it. Great people.
