Came accross these....

These heavy-duty VDE insulated long/snipe nose pliers have tips bent at 60° and serrated jaws with a built-in wire cutter.

The inner handle coating is yellow, intermediate orange and outer coating red. If the tool is subject to any form of damage it should only be used if the red outer coating remains intact.

The handle ends have a further black coating to give additional protection from dropping and the positive finger stops prevent accidental contact with bare metal parts.

Will,

they are very similar. The only noticeably differences between the two are:

- Slightly longer and beefier handle of the 802-series (black handle)

- Grippy, rubberised surface of 802 goes all the way to the blade too (blue handle has plastic where the finger tips touch so not as grippy)

- Cheaper version has a hole in the handle for hanging and using another driver

The blades and tips are nearly identical, if not for the colour.

A reasonably hot deal and some (maybe) hot info.

I was searching for a set of Wiha Magic Ring ball-end hex drivers. Like many things Wiha they don't seem to have much availability in the UK, and are very expensive when you can find them.

Anyhow I found a set on Amazon.com (not .co.uk) where a 9 piece set was just $39 USD: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IDIT06/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Now I didn't realise I could order from Amazon.com so it was just on a whim that I added them to my basket and tried to check out. It worked! Shipping was about £7 and "Import Fees Deposit" was about £6 and the grand total came to £39. Not super cheap, but miles cheaper than here.

I ordered on the 11th, they were shipped on the 12th and arrived today. By comparison I'm still waiting on an order from Conrad UK that I placed the same day.

Lesson: If you can find it cheap on Amazon.com it might not be prohibitively expensive to get it to the UK.

The downside of course is I now have one more website to check prices before I order anything.

I just bought a big G clamp from my local farm shop it's not a record but seems pretty sturdy, I'll nip out to the garage later and find the brand. Its a decent hefty casting and wasn't too expensive, I only needed it to push a piston back into a brake caliper.

Seriously though, it arrived here on a pallet in a heavy cardboard box and supported with moulded foam at the corners etc. I have no practical means for replicating that sort of secure packaging.
