Picked up a pliers wrench copy from Homebase yesterday.
Clearance £5

Yes they look and feel cheap. However I loosened the front brake caliper bolts on my car with them today as a test and they worked fine.

Cannot find info on the homebase website. Purchased from Newark store. They had a few others in stock.

I have been looking for a roto head ratchet and have considered Toptul. Found this site which has very good prices for Toptul tools.

https://www.ewsupplies.co.uk/shop/tools/socketry-ratchets/ratchets/14-ratchets/toptul-cjln0816/

Has anyone used 'ewsupplies' please? I have never seen the website before and googling shows no info. Cannot find them selling on ebay or amazon and their website doesn't have any address info.

Some alarm bells then but a good price for the 1/4 roto :)

Price: £22.17 free uk delivery

Seems like a decent price, i've never used them myself.

Probably best to buy it on a credit card for the first order just in case, that way if it does go south you can let the credit company deal with it.

I'd be concerned that https isn't working, and I thought all online businesses had to list an address?

Thanks Tonyuk, ordered a set, been looking to try Toptul, same seller also has some Cornwell stuff, Taiwan made screwdriver set, for £30.45

There is a Cornwell die grinder listed for not a lot as well, I bought one a few months back, Chinese but nice and a lot cheaper than it should be, that seller has some good stuff listed amongst the usual cheap tools.

I doubt they'll be 'professional' quality but they're worth getting for the rare occasion you find yourself really wishing you had a 12 point socket. Or as part of emergency kit in car?

I'll be clearing my duplicates and spares drawer out soon, a few Snap On items, would it be cool to add them here?

CanUK started a for sale thread and put a post here linking to it.

I found that helpful as I got a very nice Facom set off him so I’d say yes [emoji4]

Update from a previous post. I ordered the 1/4 Toptul ratchet from 'Express Workshop Supplies' and received it in three days. Fast service and a nice looking ratchet for £22.17. Wanted to try a roto style ratchet for a while. It didn't come with much or any lubrication but was very easy to take apart and reassemble. Sorry for any negativity I expressed towards the seller's website, they are clearly genuine and above board.

Yep, those are the really cheap and nasty things that are just rubbish. If you need a vice just get on Ebay, type in vice on a nearest first search, there will be something decent for similar money in a few weeks.

Bit harsh. Had my little Irwin for well over 10 years and it's fine.

That particular model or a different one? Those are junk, the ones that are the same as what Record made just before the take over are ok to decent but you pay more.
If yours is that particular model then you have been lucky.

Buying used Records make sure they say 'made in' like this one. For a while, the Chinese made ones still used the castings which said 'sheffield England' on them.
One reason I do not buy any tools from dishonest companies like Irwin.

Slightly different 4in model, just says Record on the side but I assume its Chinese made as it has no coo on the box or vice. Maybe just got lucky as you said.

Thanks for that I'll be picking up a set as a spare, maybe even 2 for for that price.

Screwfix have wiha screwdrivers (insulated) on clearance every few months too and they're excellent also.
