UK new slab question - epoxy paint

Hi guys,

From the UK here, I've just had a 13.5m x 8m slab which has been down about 8 weeks now. The frame is going up in the next few weeks and I'm starting to think about the finish on the floor.

The slab has a few small ups and downs - which I'd like to fill with 'something' before then looking at a 2 part epoxy product on the top.

I've bought a 2 part epoxy before as garage paint and these products wear quite well, though I'm sure there are more elite and better products out there.

I know a lot of those on here are based in the US but if you ship to the UK that could work.

Any thought or suggestions you have I'd be grateful.

The concrete was a C35/28 mix and had a smooth (mostly) finish on the top. Nothing else has been applied to the concrete.

No paint expert but just a question?
I built a new shop 2 years ago and planned on one of those nice epoxy floors.

The real question is how will your shop be used?

If for parking cars, drinking beer and hanging funny signs on the wall then yes epoxy the floor. And don't forget the big flat screen too!

BUT I work in my shop. This means welding, painting, cutting, grinding. Plus occasionally dropping something heavy that I did not plan on dropping! Yes **** happens!

So an epoxy floor would be a poor choice for a working shop. You will be constantly repairing it or living with messed up spots.

Just something else to think about and remember that Epoxy is NOT UV resistant. So either don't expose it to sunlight or add more cost for a clear top coat that is NOT Epoxy.

As you might guess I did not Epoxy the floor even though I really wanted to. Still planning to maybe do it on my garage floor since it's just for parking/storage.

If UV is an issue consider a Polyurea coating like our Nohr-S. There are plenty of suppliers in EU that can help you. Google "Epoxy Coatings" and you should find someone.
