Hi, I'm Matt, a windscreen fitter from the UK, and tool-aholic

I'm not so much the "garage-y" type, as my work is 100% mobile these days - I was the resident fitter at my branch for a while, but had to go back on the streets for the money :bounce:

Been doing it coming up to 11 years now, have a modest, but selected, tool kit - and even though I really don't need much/any more tools, I do get a bit fanatical over them, and often spend hours pouring over ebay seeing if there's any deals/bargains to be had (usually for stuff I don't need!!!). But mainly, it's just tool pride - I like a nice, neat, tidy box, with clean, good condition tools, laid out in the best way for working I can get them. It baffles me, especially in my line of work, why I see so many fitters fitting with such basic tools, incorrect tools, and pathetic excuses for tool boxes, with seemingly no order or organisation. I remember helping out one fitter, and asked him for a 16mm spanner, only to be told "Ain't got one of them" - surprised I asked what he normally used to do this particular job, and he said anything other than a 13mm (pretty much the standard for wiper nuts, although 12, 14, 15, and 16 aren't uncommon - even 17mm ones are cropping up more these days), he uses an adjustable wrench! I just shook my head and went to my own tool box!
