I think I am ready to step up to some nicer storage in my garage. I have been looking around and the "UltiMate" storage sold at Sears seems like a nice looking, sturdy, and cost effective solution.

My question(s):

1. Does anyone have any of this stuff? If so do you like it? Would you buy it again?

2. Anyone see any reason not to buy this? What are the downsides I am not seeing?

3. Is there a better alternative? Is there something that looks as good, performs as well and costs less?

Thanks in advance:thumbup:

I've got some...if you are easy on the cabinets you should be fine.
They are laminated mdf but they look great (in my opinion) and that's what matters to me, since I'm easy on stuff.

Others may say go with metal etc, but for the price and looks this was a good choice.

I just bought the tall 36" cabinet. I heard the legs tear out easily, so I lagged it on the wall and supported it with a 2x2 board underneath for extra support. I think it looks really sharp and has plenty of space for the money. It's like the previous post says, if you are easy on the cabinets then you should be fine. I don't think it could withstand a ton of weight and with it being MDF I will be very careful about getting it wet. I think it's the best alternative for something with good looks, quick construction, and space at this price range.

Go try to find some and look at it yourself. I really liked the look of it in pictures but then saw some (at Sears I think?) and liked it alot less in person. It could have been the p!$$ poor job somebody did assembling it in the showroom. While I am not a huge fan of the look of the Gladiator line, I was much more impressed with the construction and fit and finish.

One other nitpick: on the tall cabinet the door pulls are installed WAY too low. I am 6'4" and had to bend down to reach the pull.

I bought this stuff mainly on price, since I didn't have a huge budget to work with. At the time I bought it, I only paid $49 for the 24" x 30" cabinets and $79 for the 36" x 22" cabinet. They aren't the biggest and deepest cabinets, so you will be hard pressed to load them up with items that surpass the load rating. Especially if you bolt them directly to studs like I did.

What I do like.
1. Easy assembly, although tedius when assembling a large quantity (can you say assembly line)
2. Pretty nice neutral finish, that looks pretty sharp.
3. Low cost
3. Hook type mounting bracket so you can mount that on the wall first, then just hang the cabinet. If you want to secure even further, then just shoot a screw through the back like I did.

What I didn't like

1. They are heavy as a mofo... They weight in at 60-75 pounds per cabinet mainly do to the MDF construction.
2. They aren't deep enough to place anything substantial in the cabinet. They mostly get used for detailing supplies, spray cans, and small tool boxes.
