I live in a trailer in the back of my airplane hangar now and am building an apartment and air conditioned shop which will hopefully be finished in the next year or so. I will start a thread when I get further along on it. In the mean time a friend of mine gave me a tour of a hangar that is what I consider to be the Ultimate Airplane Hangar. I took some video of the hangar and view it often for inspiration and motivation for finishing mine. Here you go.
This is the hangar.

And this is the office/apartment.

That is sa-weet!

As a professional pilot and one that is refurbishing his little 2-car garage, this makes me want to roll up my sleeves this afternoon and work 'til the wee small hours.

Hi,

Wow!!!

I have an A/C door about the same size as the one you have in your living room with a glass top. I was wondering how to turn it into a table. If ever you've got spare time to take few pictures of it and post it, I would appreciate.

Thanks

Wow! This one ranks up there as one of my favorites of all time! Your friend did an amazing job putting all of this together. What state is it in?
Thanks for sharing!

Whoa. Them's some old warbirds!:drool::shocking::bowdown:

Please tell us the story on those planes.

I'm not schooled on aircraft history as much as I want to be, but I do know that some of those old WWII fighter aircraft are so rare that archeological teams will go into the jungle to dig up crashed remnants to scavenge parts for planes that are needing restored.

I remember hearing a story about a memorial/decoration that was set up on an island in WWII where an airstrip was that consisted of an F4 Wildcat front end (propeller, cowling, and maybe even the engine) and the cowling was later grabbed by historians doing a restoration on one.

Awesome!!! Love how every little detail is thought through. Definately not a working space.... Or at least not the work I know. :) with cost being no object, I am suprised by the floor choice in the main hangar.

A nice P-51 goes for $1.8-2 mil. The TF version is another $200k. The airplane I think you're referring is a P-38 Lightening referred to as "Glacier Girl". They're much rarer and demand much greater premiums.

I thought I had a photo of Glacier Girl next to my Mustang, but am unable to find it. I do have several with P51's though.
