I found a great deal on a lot of National Electric work lights with a 50 ft retractable cord, this is one with the heavy duty reel and quality cord. New in the box! This is the best reel that I have tried, super smooth rewind and a great cord that is easy to clean. Snap-On, Cornwell and many others rebadge National Electric lights. This is a quality made product that is still made in the USA.

Feel free to post pictures of your favorite shop lights with reels.

What's the price? Where can you buy them? Do they carry anything above 13-Watts?

Checked the prices, but they're not that inexpensive. I guess they would be cheaper than the truck brands. They look pretty nice.

I was hoping others would post pictures of quality work lights, this is one of the best brands that I have used and is not well known. My 10 yr old national electric HD reel light with lots of heavy use is still at my parents garage, countless engine swaps and still going strong. Believe that I posted here a few years ago about that light.

The heavy duty reel with the great cord is one of the main differences, also many of the imported brands have the ballast in the handle which makes the light run hot. The cord, housing and lens clean up very easy, even if brake or diff fluid gets on it.

I had to purchase all of them, over a dozen of the same model. I was thinking about sell some on craigslist, still deciding on what to do with the extras.

Sun-Lite also made the pen lights for Blue Point with the aluminum housing that are "assembled in the USA". That particular light gave me no end of problems. I have two. Only product I regret buying from SO. Not suggesting that this reel-light above will be bunk though...

This is an online source, good company to deal with.

If you want good service and would prefer one in red, please consider a real Snap-on, not a home owner version made in China. We have a few great dealers on this site that would be able to sell you a quality product, the one at Costco is not the same, not even close.

Please write a review if you purchase one.

Speed-Racer did you buy it from Tool Source for $123.95? $123.95 doesn't exactly scream "deal" to me, but then again I haven't thoroughly researched light reels yet.

Shop lights get pulled, dropped, smack into things while recoiling, and all kinds of other abuse. Plus they're usually mounted up high and pain to get to. It's best to get a "good" one that will take years of abuse.

Striker, I purchased all the ones that were on a close out sale, package deal. This has been a favorite tool over the years, decided to posted because I keep noticing the foreign knock-off listings in a lot of recent tool catalogs. Hard to find a local source for the lights, surprised that others have not jumped in on this thread and commented on the brand and how rugged they are. The thread was about, the quality brand(ultimate work light) vs. my deal.

The price from tool source is good, I believe they list around 150-180 range. Someone posted that they could not find a place to purchase the light, so I posted the online source.

I have sale listed in classified section here. Have too many of these from my package deal .

What price would make these fly out my garage?

I has this one at home shop. Bulletproof. Also nice because it has an outlet on the handle.

At work we have about 10 of the style the OP posted- rebranded ATD. Have seen exact same light branded Sun-lite as well.

The heads usually last around a year in a professional environment, longer if you are ok with jerry-rigging them to keep from falling apart. Never had a problem with a retractor reel unless it was a switch inside that failed.

The style with the on/off switches inside where the reel retracts are not so nice- we have several you need to unplug every night to turn them off. The style with the on/off in a button at base of the light are better.

The blue cap with the hook on it gets loose from the clear tube- we have silicone/glue holding most of our caps together. One guy uses big hose clamps to hold it together. Most of ours will shatter the bulb inside if dropped.

Nice light. Definately not bulletproof. Decent for the price but definately not the best on the market.

Finally had a chance to mount my new lights. I took a few pictures of the installation.

A little extra bracing.

Any guesses for what a coat hanger is being used for?

Jeff, My light arrived today and you were right I was impressed. This is a very well made shop light. It has the rough service lamp in it which is a definite plus. The on off switch is in the end of the lamp housing and protected form being hit and broken by a soft rubber covering that you push to turn on and off. It seems as though this is definitely better built than anything else I have seen offered for sale locally. I can easily reach anywhere in my garage with the 50 foot cord. I think that this is definitely well worth the 60.00 investment and then some. Thanks,Jim

those things are nice because they dont burn you but I cant see with them, I use the 10 dollar fire starters with the 75w severe service bulbs, plus when you break a bulb the glass gives you traction on an oily floor.

So you want to see cord reels? :)

This is a vapor-tight industrial model, built by Daniel Woodhead Company (nowadays I believe they're a division of Molex Corporation.) The price tag on it says $20, but if I remember correctly I got it for $10. These things are ridiculously expensive new, probably around $750 or more.
