There's a new MIG welder that's soon to be released, and it looks like quite an upgrade over current models.

I tried to find pricing info online, but since the tool isn't released yet, its MSRP hasn't been made public yet.

Maybe ime wrong but i dont see it having the runtime and duribility i would need.

It may be good for other fields thoe, it will be intresting to see.

What makes this a great gag is that it's so close to believable! Have you guys seen those 12v Trail arc welders that a lot of Jeep guys install in their rigs? About half a shoebox size and will do a passable emergency weld. I would say a 12v MIG is not too far off.

The rechargable idea is great...but I think that would be good for about 10 seconds of welding....I think we're a bit further away on that one.

Unfortunately, the prototype used the entire world's supply of unobtanium metal, so until a replacement alloy is found, there won't be any production models.
