I am pretty sure I know the answer, but I will ask anyway.

I have a "working" garage. Wifes DD in and out every day. Big 4x4's in and out. Occasionally my 13,000 lb work truck comes in too. and here is the kicker... My tractor in and out, with 4 wheel tire chains (also occasionally my 4x4 has chains as well).

So I assume that I am basically out of luck for any floor coating, or covering due to the abuse my floor takes on a daily basis. Am I correct?

I've been avoiding these types of questions on here.

Is there a product that will take heavy abuse? Yes... It's not cheap... It's difficult to apply. We have a trowel applied product that is applyied at 1/4" thick... It contains titanium (that is fused into a ceramic matrix of Ferro Silicon by superheating in a fusion furnace. Only an experienced installer should attempt to apply it.

The best product for a DIYer would be our LiquaTile 1142. The wear would be similar to ceramic tile. It is also repairable...

So, while there are products that are available... I don't think that the cost is realistic for many people for a garage floor.

why dont you put on the coating you want and then get some rubber mat material to cover the areas the tires will be (runners) for when you bring something in with chains

Wolverine,
Now that we have you pinned down about working shops, which if any products are impervious to brake clean, brake fluid, methanol and other bad mojo chemicals?
Thanks

I've had all that on my plain old rust-oleum with no trouble. Gas tank on the garden tractor slowly leaked out 5 gallons over a monthe with no damage, brake fluid was on the floor for the better part of a day with no trouble.

Just about any coating we make... Keep in mind that we make coatings to line the insides of chemical storage tanks... LiquaTile 1184 (one of our lowest technology products) would be fine... and even resistant to concentrated sulfuric acid...

First post from a lurker.
Wolverine, your patience responding to folks here has convinced me you are the way to go for my 20x30 shop. It is nothing special, but I weld, grind, build and dream in ther and I am tired of looking at the slab.
Come spring, when I can move the cars outside and the tools into the trailer, I will be in touch.
