Ultrasonic carb cleaning

I'm new to this process and not sure if I need to totally disassemble the carb or take it off the engine and put it in the cleaner. Does this cleaning process hurt the float? The gasket for the bowl ? Parts that are not metal ?.….. looking for advice from someone who has done carbs. Thank you

I always fully disassemble the carbs I put into my little cleaner I use occasionally at work. Not every carb clean needs to be dipped in my opinion. By disassembly I mean all parts that can be removed with a screwdriver, not the small plugs that cover internal passages. As far as plastic/gaskets, that depends on what you are using as a cleaning solution. I use Yamaha Carb Cleaner and that stuff will melt plastic. When I remove the carb/parts I clean with brake cleaner and compressed air.

In my opinion the best answer is “it depends”. The carburetor will have to be removed from the engine before you can do anything more than run a fuel system cleaner through it.

Many simple carburetors like the Carter W1 or Stromberg 97 will not need a complete disassembly, more modern ones, probably will.

Take it apart. If the fluid can't reach all the internal passages, there won't be any cleaning going on there.

yes, strip the carb to pieces, take out all the jets , take off all the gaskets and orings as they can be harmed in the cleaner . probe any orifices with a small pc of wire . blow it out well with compressed air after cleaning to get rid of any ****
