Unable to Access GJ using Opera Browsers?

I'm having the EXACT same problem as this guy:

Has it been reported that Opera users are not unable to access the Forums but able to access the home page no problem?

when I click the Forum Links (within Opera), it tries to connect back to my local (external) IP Address....

very frustrating having to use IE....I HATE IE.....

I've had that issue a few times.

Home page works just fine, clicking on forum link brings up IP address, which of course doesn't work.

But I'm using Opera 21 right now and it works just fine, so I'm not sure what causes it or if it has been fixed.

I don't believe it ever happened with Opera 12.

Not fixed. I'm at home now, and using Opera 12.17. I get the same forward to my own IP.

Changing the "browser identification" in Opera for this site, telling it to "identify as" Internet Explorer fixes it. Same goes for identify as Firefox. "Mask as" either makes it work as well.

So I'm guessing it's some kind of script that does something different if it detects Opera? It's not a client side javascript issue, since disabling javascript makes no difference.

I'm not sure Opera will care about the issues on version 12 though, since it's no longer being developed. But I think I've had the same problem with version 20/21 as well.

Opera is still broke for me...but I can't figure out why Opera re-directs the GJ forum.....

I just downloaded Opera 21.0.1432.67 on Win7 64bit...No More problem

12.17 on my WIn7 64bit and XP machine both have problems...

not sure i'm going to continue being an Opera user after 12-13 years now...I don't much care for their updates and lack of migrating everything over from the old versions to the new ones.

i especially hate the fact that they have abandoned everything that made their browser unique and have moved onto the Mozilla platform....

I came here to look into this issue. I have loads of time to browse on my phone so I miss not accessing the forum.


I can access the forum on my phone using Opera 16.0.1212.64462 but it really eats resources so I use Opera Classic on my phone.

Opera Classic on my phone just gives me an IP address. It has never happened to any other website.



I use Chrome on my home computers and I have no issues with the site.
