Unbrako hex keys

I just bought a big bag of Unbrako hex keys from a second hand store. I got various sizes from 5/16 up to 17mm. An old timer at my works says they are the cats *** but I can't find anything about them. Are they any good?

They are as good as you can get. Unbrako also makes some of the best screws.

They are good. On the name...a friend once picked up one of mine and read the name.
His reaction..."Hmpf. Everyone knows Allen wrenches don't break. They just twist." Then he contempuously tossed it back in the box...

I fugured they were good. They seemed well made and I got a whole wad of them for $5.00

I know this is an old thread, but I recently picked up some Unbrako "allen" keys. I'm guessing they are 25-30 years old. There is no CoO marked on them. Are they European made or Chicom or U.S.? Any other info?

they WERE a USA and a premium product, as said above they used to make socket head cap screws (allen bolts) I had a lot of there screw charts back when I was starting out in engineering. (35 years ago)

they are now a "global company"

I would love to find some at a yard sale.

I sold there product for years. Top quality. At the time the big three spec'd their socket head cap screws for all their dies.

A couple weeks ago I'm at a yard sale. Few tools, but all quality. There's a guy arguing with the sellers over the price of everything. There's a big tin of Allens. The seller wants $2, the buyer is offering .50. $2 is bargain for the tin. Cheapskate is real obnoxious, lowballing the seller on everything and giving BS excuses for his cheap offers. So, as he's reaching for the tin, I grab it. Now we're both holding it and the seller says "first guy to give me $3 gets it.". I say "Sold!" And pull the tin out of the other guy's hand. Cheapskate is pissed. I didn't need the wrenches but wanted to twist that jerk's tail. Seller had a good laugh about it.

I get home and discover that the Allens are Unbrako, and early C-Man.

Awesome. You definitely got your money worth. For some folks very cheap, just isn't cheap enough.

As for unbrako, I had never heard of them, till I bought a tool box that came with a bunch, and I mean a bunch of hex keys. Of them was a complete set from 0.050" all the way up to 1" They seem to be very good quality. Don't know what I would ever use a 1" key for, but it looks good in the drawer
