Unbranded USA sockets?

In order to fill a could of gaps in a socket set, I bought a couple of 1/4" unbranded made in U.S.A. sockets for cheap ($1 each shipped) from what seems like a surplus dealer on eBay. Out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone would know why a socket wouldn't have a brand and/or if they knew who made them. They seem like typical Danahar/Apex but that's just a guess.

They don't have a spectator finish but probably from being in bags for 10 years or so OR perhaps they are 2nds and they didn't get the last step of manufacturing which could have been the brand being lasered on. In any event, they seem like they will serve nicely rounding out my set for a buck.

Danaher mfg. sockets, double detent is a dead giveaway. $1 is pretty reasonable no matter what brand.
Not sure why they wouldnt have a brand marking, could be a private label or contract job.

Looks like Dahner who sold to Craftsman when they were USA sockets. They will work just fine.

I have USA Craftsman and Masterforce sockets that look identical with the double detent so I would agree with them being Danaher/Apex.

When using wobble extensions they lock like a standard one. only benefit I've ever found.

to confuse people, make the socket seem harder to remove from non quick release ratchets, and make them not want to go on the twist lock style socket rails easily

somebody posted the double detent patent at one time. if i am correct there was a special ratchet anvil that mated with it. it was never really clear what the advantage was and the ratchet was never made to the best of my knowledge. for some reason the socket design stayed.

Well.....today I went out and tried the double detent sockets out on a ratchet. Unfortunately, and I kid you not, I sold all 4 of my Snap-On 1/4" ratchets so I currently only have quick releases in that drive size......worked perfectly.
