Well, just had to say, it's been a good day, hit a bit of a milestone today. I received a "Pass" on my plumbing, electrical, and building inspections!!! There are a couple things I need to tidy up, but nothing too major. So, I'm hoping to starting insulating within the next few weeks!

So it's been a long time coming, but I've finally made a HUGE leap forward in getting my garage done. As of three weeks ago, I've been putting every minute I have into the garage.
For to months I've been feeling close to the point where I would be done with my electrical and mechanical work on the garage, so I posted an add on craigslist looking for someone to insulate and shetrock the garage. I received a large number of responses, and had further discussions with only a couple people (meanwhile I received a pass on all of my inspections).
There was one contractor I was thinking of going with, I liked their number, and the methods of application they described. After talking with them a couple of times, they called me up on a Monday and as the discussion went, they indicated they could start on it the following Monday but didn't want to do the insulation... Holy ****. Now my problem was could I get it insulated in a week? well I committed and said yes I could. But how? Well I ended up getting about 5 consistent helpers to insulate and finish out the work that needed to be done. Here are a few pics of what the garage looked like that Monday.

Been a while since I've uploaded any photos to this thread. I've been cleaning it over the last few days, and finally got it looking decent. I'm in northern WI, we use lots of road salt, I like to wash that down from time to time, so between the warm weather, clean garage, and salt washdown, I got some decent pics with the floor nice and shiny! If you look back in some of the older pics you can see when the floor was new, nice and shiny and deep color. These days, it doesn't get shiny, and in a good portion of it, I've stripped off a bunch of the polyurethane that went down originally. Turns out brake cleaner doesn't like it. Brake cleaner/solvents were causing the poly to break down/wash off ugliness, so I've been removing bit by bit. Lesson to self: Don't put poly in a garage. I had also thought about epoxy, but I fear that would burn with red hot weld slag, cutting slag... I'm thinking the only solution is bare concrete, maybe colored even.

I think I'm calling the garage "done" finally. I've finished most all little side projects on it.

Really looks good. Floor looks much better than you describe. Personally, I think any treatment on concrete is questionable in a garage or shop where vehicles are maintained and projects are made out of metal and mechanicals.

I would be remiss in not welcoming you back after your long hibernation.
