Framed this beast flat with the sill plate on the concrete, the horizontal 2x supported the wall while built, squared and sheeted, it was a ****** to stand up, put in place with the excavator.

Truss time! no help this day. This was exciting to try and get these secured by myself, other than the truck driver.

And more truss photos. We used some scaffold and planks to be able to work the trusses into place.

The 2x on top the trusses on both sides allowed two of us to keep these heavy things vertical while we moved them.
IMG_1434.JPG
This 2x goes from the trusses already installed to the bundles of trusses, we would peel off one truss and slide it into place,,,,,ez peasy.

This is exhausting.

Sheeting the gable before standing it up. Its along ways off the ground.
IMG_1448.JPG
Needed to bring in some more help to lift the gable end truss and the scissor trusses, they are top heavy and wobbly.

Smart to scab that 2x4 to the beam to sit the trusses on. By code can you leave it on, or do you have to install hangers?

These trusses are designed to set on a 2x. I gave the truss sheets to my engineer, and he gave me a detail for the connection with 12d staggered on 3" centers. So no hangers. That saved a pile of money for sure.

Re: new construction (yet unnamed)

Well done using the recycled beams and trusses! You're saving money left, right and center doing it that way. Great planning ahead!
