I ordered the last window I needed for my upstairs rental unit. A 3'-0"x 4'-0" Single hung in brown. It took just over 5 weeks to arrive, delivered by Fedex.
I was impressed with the crating, very sturdy.

I cut the plywood out to install the window, pulled the window out of the crate to find this.
bw2_1.jpgbw3_1.jpg
And when I opened it up,

I called Home Depot who said that if I needed a replacement they would have to charge my card the full amount that would be refunded when the replacement was delivered! So to replace a window that was received broken, I have to pay again, and wont get a refund for at least 5 weeks!! Not to mention the delay in being able to complete the area around the window.
Excuse my French but **** YOU HOME DEPOT!!!!
The Home Depot employee also suggested that i file a warranty claim with Jeld-Wen the manufacturer of the window. I sent Jeld-Wen a photo of the damage and was immediately denied due to not being a manufacturing
defect. Yes not a defect, but they are the ones that crated it for shipping!:dunno:
So Home Depot can kiss my internet business goodbye, I will never order anything online from them again.

If you charged the item, I would contact the credit card company and get them started on a dispute (since you've already contacted the seller). I had a similar experience with a large retailer. Same kind of **** from the phone jockey and the store manager, who basically laughed at me for not carefully inspecting the item before taking it home. Long story short, I re-packaged the item, videotaped (it was a while ago) the unpacking process and damage, which someone had tried to hide. Mailed a DVD copy to the CEO of the (private) company in a certified, signature-required letter. The "customer affairs" director called and asked when they could come exchange the item. Told her I already bought another so pick it up and credit my account. The credit card company had already removed the charge while a resolution was pending.

Sounds like Home Depot has "serviced" you so good luck "servicing" Home Depot back ("service" in the animal husbandry sense).

Sorry its been slow at the Playstation. I Spent my Birthday week in Hawaii and get back home to 10 degree weather and freezing rain storms that kept me from getting home. Snoqualmie pass was closed for the better part of a week. And now I'm sick.
Anyway about 40" of snow on the ground now. On my last project the insulators installed the wrong rigid insulation. They installed R-20.5 and not R-21 the inspector made them remove it all. I was given most of it. I will use this in the ceiling of the loft area and a few other spots.insulation_1.jpg
I love recycling and reusing materials!!

Love the reuse idea. I do not think I would even go out of the house with 40" of snow tho. Wow. Here in the south we shut down even for a chance of snow. LOL.

Looking great hoho!.

Your window ordeal, I had a major issue with Depot on some custom windows and they pulled the same ****. My major one was a 6/0 X 10/0 for the living room. They finally got it close to right after the third go around which cost me 3 months of delay getting my house re-stuccoed. But I ended up with a 8ft wide verses the 10ft that we wanted. Never again.

Thanks LXcam!!
I am done dealing with Home Depot as well, will not ever order anything from them again. About two years ago I ordered a drywall cart from them. It showed up with only 3 of the 4 wheels. It took nearly 3 months to get another set of wheels for it. :wtf:

I picked this up right before it snowed. Its a greenwood 200, will heat 7000sqft.
This Spring I will be building a wood shed right next to the attached garage, this will go in the shed. It will heat the main floor of the house,
all 3 levels of the shop, and the hot water. I was hoping to get the shed built before the snow flied...didn't happen. I am so stoked to get this up and running, and give the power company the finger!:rocker:

I'm with you there!

It would be interesting to see how much wood you would go through in a season to heat the place(s).

Man that's a big boy heater.
This winter is mild here in AZ. I never turned on the heat in the house, AND the wife has yet to complain!

Wow that would be so nice! Its just me in my house and i have the heat programmed to shut way down when not needed, and my power bill is still high. It was 10x worse when my ex was there, it was almost another mortgage payment. It was 10 degrees outside when I left this morning.

Hoho, this is one of the first threads that i started to read. Gets me all the time about the depth of snow you get, we are lucky to get 2" to 3" for about 10 days a year.
The internt shopping has a couple of bad things, but i think it's getting better. We live out of town a bit and do a lot of parts shopping for my 3 C3500 pickups.
That heater should be able to preheat the garage so your motors are always warm!

Did you ever get that wood boiler up and running ?? I've been doing some learning about them and a Greenwood 100 is on the list. Just looking for whatever feedback you may have.

Just wanted to weigh in as many others have to say this is one of my favorite threads on the forum.
I read these other threads about all the environmental hassles others in Washington go through with their building permits. Is that not the case @ your elevation ?

I have been swamped at work, so haven't posted in a bit. I used an Acrylic Urethane on the floor. Pressure washed the floor, scrubbed with floor machine and pressure washed again. Placed three coats on the floor. seems pretty scratch resistant, super easy to apply more coats, we will see how she holds up. And super cheap.IMG_1155.jpg

Trolleys, I got 5 of them with the track.

Mounting- these were left over from a job. they were for 8x8 posts to concrete the steel is all 5/8, so very heavy. I cut one leg off and welded over to fit my beam widths .
IMG_4986 (2).jpg
I used the rail hangers that came with the rail, used 5/8" all thread drilled through the bottom plate and bolted together.

Still need to weld together and add some hangers, but this is gonna be nice:D

That is one great find! I am sure you are going to appreciate that system. I am totally jealous.

You do need to have a motor and a swing basket for it to take rides around the shop right?

Just went through the whole thread today. One of the coolest things about this site is seeing how shops are built in all kinds of geographical areas. Yours is unique to say the least.

I've been working on lighting in the shop to get me through the winter. So far I have installed 16 of these:
41Tb5xFuf+L._AC_.jpg51-nDO+95uL._AC_SL1000_.jpg
They are very well made, even though they are made in China. :eyecrazy: I purchased these off Amazon for 100 bucks apiece. Instant on, even in the cold weather is real nice. They have a nice weight to them to.
I think this will be plenty of light, if not i have boxes to add more. image_16.jpgThis is around 20 FC, and once i get the walls and ceiling covered should be even better. I have installed 4 more since this photo was taken.

Thanks! That's daylight which is quite bright and great for shops and garages IMHO. It looks bright in there and I bet the pictures don't do it justice.
