I am not a Craftsman guy, so I don't know the exact years off the top of my head, but the short production timeframe (two years in the 70's, IIRC) is identified somewhere in Part II (Standard Wrenches) of @Lesserstore 's 'Craftsman Wrench History 1945-2011' thread. That thread can be found in the A-Z Index in the Sticky at the top of the forum titled READ B4 POSTING.

As I understand it, mostly from reading Jim C’s Craftsman Teardrop ratchet type study, the change from the earlier Pointed A to the later flatter A gradually took place towards the end of the ‘60s.

Generally =v= tools didn’t have a part number but -v- tools dId.

I've got my wires crossed there..... I've tried to find that post and it's a fool's errand trying to search for "A" using the search function and now I'm thinking I had the wrong username.

GJ member @DadsTools stated the change from "pointy A" to "flat-top A" occurred about 1968

68-73 non quick release? May or may not have an oil port. I think the models with quick release had the pat info on them during this era

According to the study posted here on GJ, located in the Sticky Index as referenced in post #5, they were made from 1970-1971. I have no stake in any of the apparently diverse conclusions. Just sayin'.
