Looking to put some lights under my cabinets. Not sure what way to go. Was looking at the best fixture thread but that may be overkill and hang down too far into the workspace.

Options:

Strip lights - cheap and inefficient questionable light

led linkable single bulbs fixtures - cheap, may have rf interference

T5's or flouro - more even light?

what is the goto for under cabinet light?

I used the stick on LED tape, the one I bought had a wireless remote that allowed for them to do all kinds of things. Never used any of that, full on or full off, that was it.

I took that picture with the garage lights off so one could see the amount of light they actually provide. I really like them. no more shadows as you bend over your work blocking what light is coming from above.

One thong you should take into account, the lights you linked have a housing that will extend down two to three inches depending upon how they measured. The means you will lose that much space at the mounting point, in my mind that might be annoying. Just something to think about.

Something like these take up virtually no space at all.

yeah thats my main concern with going with a fixture. It will hang too low.

Hard to judge lighting from a pic with camera exposure etc.

Yes, that's true. I know that a fixture hanging down and taking up that much space would be annoying to me.

there are versions of those tape lamps that come in a relatively thin aluminum sleeve or strip, however the price is pretty steep. Check here.

Check out Inspired LED. The guy who owns the company is very helpful, and so is his staff, they walk you through everything. I have had their under cabinet lights in my kitchen for over 6 years now, no failures. Truly an A + company in terms of help, quality and price. I had miscalculated a length of a run, and wanted to return it, they said,...keep it, and we will send you the correct length. Awesome customer service. They send you everything you need for your project.
