First, let me say Happy New Year to everyone at Garage Journal! So, I built a storage cabinet for above my workbench and I'd like to install under cabinet lights to help illuminate the work area. I would like ones that "daisy-chain" together (with one plug), are low profile and very bright. If anyone has experience with these and can make a suggestion, I'm all ears!

I have used led light bars from environmentallights.com They were pricey, but i could select length, color, difuser, etc. it was for a kitchen, so probably way more $ and options than what you are looking for. But get so ideas. Ilike these better than hocky pucks b/c of uniform light distribution.

Even consider an under bench light at the same time. You will probably treat it differently if lit.

Personally I believe LED rope lights will be the easiest to install if you can get them in a cutable version. Another easy option is the self adhesive LED strips but that will require a separate transformer. Lots of stores sell T-5 fluorescent under cabinet fixtures that can be easily daisy chained with the proper jumpers. Some will **** together with small connectors and they can be spaced apart with short jumpers to clear the uneven cabinet bottoms. I have all 3 of these items waiting for me to build cabinets as soon as my current garage is finished. One other thing I am considering is LED arm lights like they use for booth lighting at Trade Shows to accent light some of my equipment such as saws and drill press. These lights extend out about 18" from a mounting location and can be rotated to aim at items. I have some of those also.

The led strip lights you mentioned above are exactly the style i used. Worked well. All of that wiring needs to remain exposed- not in walls. I put a switched receptacle above the cabinets and that is where the xformer plugged into.

I got some of the strip LEDs from HD a couple years back for my back porch - they have a remote, are dimmable, and on full bright make the porch like daytime. Best money I spent, and might end up getting more for the shop benches... for what you're looking for, these would rock.

If you're looking for something less bulky I used these for lighting underneath my fish tank. Very bright and lots of light.

Here it is with the lights installed. I ended up with two under the cabinet and one mounted to the underside of a stair tread to light up my drill press area which was too dark before. They're nice & bright, super easy to install and inexpensive.View media item 66950
