Under Cabinet Lighting

Does anyone have suggestions for under cabinet lighting?
I recently put some spare led light strips I had laying around at work under my new cabinets and was sorely disappointed. In the pictures it looks bright but in fact it doesn't do **** when I have my main lights on in the garage. Not only is the color bad but its too dim to do any fine work. These were about the best strips we found back when we were working on that project.
I'm trying to find a slim light that can fit under the cabinets flush (standard 3/4inch gap under) that will plug into/can be made to be a standard outlet.
Haven't had much luck at the local usual suspects.

I've been trying to find some decent ones that are motion activated, in my case, for the kitchen cabinets.

That DOES look bright.
But it's not, huh? Lighting is very hard to photograph.
Have a look at this product. Very small. Easy to mount. Linkable or butted end to end. Can be hard wired or cord & plug. NOT dimmable. 1900 lumens in 4' section. Comes in 1' 2' 3' or 4' sections. If one strip isn't bright enough, add another. They're pretty affordable. http://forestlighting.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/T5NXXX-TP-04.5.18.pdf

not too sure about an off the shelf solution but LED strip rolls can be pretty bright in high density. Look for 120 LEDs per Meter. You can get them in different colour temperatures as well. You could also gang two of them beside each other under the cab if required.

LED tape light can be had pretty cheap.

It comes in varying intensity, and colors.

You can add as many as you need to make your workspace as bright as needed.

You want bright? I was just gonna throw another pair of 8’ t8ho under mine eventually.

One on a switch inline from a hidden plug in the cabinet. The other on an occupancy switch that I can disable when working.

I have halogen puck lights installed. They are plenty bright, but they get really hot.

The solution to this problem is greatly dependent on the answer to this question:

What's your budget?

Edit:
Depending if you have dividers between your cabinets 1x4 flat panel lights could be great. You would have to unscrew the driver and remote mount it but then the light would fit nicely under the cabinet.

I cannot post links yet so you will have to search:
At Home Depot Commercial-Electric-1-ft-x-4-ft-50-Watt-White-Integrated-LED-Edge-Lit-Flat-Panel-Flushmount-74031-HD-G2

There are thinner ones on amazon.

The perk is that these would provide an essentially shadow free work area.

I just installed lighting bright (and dispersed) enough in the shop that I wouldn't need additional under cabinet lighting.

HA! That I did not think of! I can just do 4 flushmount panels!
Perfect!

I have been fairly happy with Kichler's 4U series LED lights. They have high CRI and can be found at a discount. Be careful installing them with dimmer switches though--they can buzz when installed on dimmer switches. They can be direct wired or installed with a standard plug.

Kichler 4u available in multiple lengths

'Round here the code was modified for what the city will except for a cabinet with under counter lights. I thought it was a little funny that the finally got around to modding their code just as LED's were coming on mainstream more or less mooting the puck light heat issue. Those getting new here are mostly skipping halogen. Those buying the halogen puck lights now are usually for projects with no permits and or no care for code compliance. They want a second cab bottom with an air gap.

That's the plan, I have the lights, just need to find 4 more 24" cabinets on the cheap.
