My niece would like me to put an under-deck drainage system in so she can use the patio area under her deck without getting dripped on. The two options I see for that are TimberTech DrySpace or ZipUP UnderDeck. I could probably also come up with a totally DIY option, but I'll be doing this while on my summer visit to her house and will have a more limited selection of tools and will need to get it done in a fairly tight time window.

Does anyone have experience with either or another good option? The space is about 18' wide and 10' deep.

Check out this idea. It would be difficult if the deck is finished. I like the corrugated metal idea but rubber membrane like this could be an option.

Previous owner had installed a plastic corrugated plastic for this purpose prior to us moving in. It didn’t hold up well. During some other deck repairs, I stripped it all off.

They’d made a substructure of 2x4s to attach it to. Gave it about 6”? Of slope over the 11’ length. This was still solid.

I went to the local barn sheet metal place down the road. Ordered enough to do the. 70’x11’ under my deck. He called me before cutting it. “A guy down at the lake did this, he had me roll it backwards, do you want that?

I had to think it over, but by rolling it backwards, it made the “trough” bigger to carry more water. Glad he pointed that out. Traditional would have worked, but this was better.

Fought the install for 1/4 of the deck. Then Rented a Sheetrock jack to hold it up while screwing it into the substructure, that was worth every penny of the $50 it rented for.

I put up gutters at the end to catch the water. I screwed up without thinking about the surface tension of the water would bring it back into underneath an inch or so. Not all the water hits my gutter. Need to do a tweak or bend on the end of metal or space my gutters out 2” more to catch all the water.

Yes. Deck is already in place.

I am leaning toward galvanized metal roofing. Easy to source and repair.
I just finished getting quotes for a replacement deck with a dry area underneath.

A couple of them quoted using the galvanized roofing, so it's a pretty common solution.
