Under garage door indoor lighting

So I got this sign with steel base and aluminum post for free. I want to use the base for a tool stand. And I thought maybe I can use the aluminum post to add some lighting under the garage door when it's open. It's very dark on the workbench near that door and I need lighting. The post weights about 11-12 pounds.

Do you guys think this will be fine if lagged into a stud with two lag bolts and 2 anchored screws.





I would need to find lightweight lights to hang off the sides of the post. The post is 2.5" square tubing. It seems like it won't go anywhere.

Other than being really odd looking, I know I'd bash my head into it plenty of times.

If I needed real good light with the door open often,I'd just put a couple 8'footers on each wall.
