After seeing several shops using these new under hood LED light bars I see the value in them. Whiling researching them I have not come to a definite answer as to which one is the best value. Please give me your advise and what features you like and dislike, as well as opinions on corded or cordless.

I love my blue point one. It has some kind of proprietary coating that helps spread the light

I have the blue point/Snap on One with 95 LED's works great. I lay it on the floor too some times. I left the plastic on and it still works good.

I'd recommend the Capri Tool worklight. It has a magnet as well as two hooks at both ends, so you could stick it or hang it. Even though it's not as long as those other ones, the light distribution is wide, color is clean (cool white 5000K from SMD LEDs, not the blueish type), and very bright ( 300 lumens claimed). I've had it for several months and been really happy with it.

I have the ECUB128A and I am very happy with it. Great battery run time, excellent light output. I am not investted into any Snap On cordless battery lines so while they do make the 12V version (newer than the BluePoint one) I was happy to get the one that has the internall battery and charge it after I am done using it. For when you kill it on a job or I leave it on while multi tasking, I can run a extention cord to it and it will power it and charge it slightly while running. My only issue is when doing that the Micro USB cord fits a bit loose when charging, I've had to put a piece of tape around it if its on the hood and hooked up to a extention cord. A longer USB cord would fix this issue and take the weight strain off of the USB connector. No regrets on the light, I love it. Great investment for underhood and other usages. I use it lots when I am cleaning or detailing the inside of the car as the coating is great for dispursing the light and I can run it inside the roof of the car easily (just don't close the doors on the hangers)

Do you all know the manufacturer for The blue point version. If i can find a slight variance from the blue point with all the main features at a significant decrease in cost I will be a buyer. If not it looks like I will be purchasing a blue point bar light.

I don't generally drag it out anymore but I have a Cornwell that's only got 9 or 10 led's and a really good reflector, lights up an entire engine bay with ease. For a home garage though, a couple fluorescent fixtures mounted on the wall in the front of the bay kicks its *** for less money.

from what i understand the coating is proprietary to snap on. If you search through the archives theres a similar one, but no coating. Personally, it's not expensive enough to worry about IMO.

And if the charger socket messes up it'll get fixed free of cost.

Monster 30 watt is the best one I have used

I also have the Monster rechargeable. It's fantastic. Their rechargeable drop lights are spectacular as well.

The underhood light can also be used for interior jobs. Just open the doors and clip it to the jambs under the headliner.

You won't regret buying one of these.

I just screwed LED bulbs into the ones I already have. Get a 100w equivalent, which should be about 15 watts. Bang them around all you want. Just as good and less money.
