Underbody truck/trailer box tool storage?

My gooseneck trailer currently has two 48"Wx18"Hx18"D or maybe 20"H underbody boxes under the deck. They are great for storage and hold my travel tool bags, but I really want to have a permanent tool set for my trailer that is organized! Any input from mobile mechanics etc.. would be great

I had been looking into getting another underbody toolbox with storage drawers built in like this, but damn they are between 500-1000 dollars.

Would really like to have one of these but again lots of $$$$$

Also looking into this, but it's about 250-300 and isn't very big. Not really worth it to me

The last one sparked an idea of mounting a top chest or middle chest on some thick rubber washers to one of my current boxes floor. This will leave me some room on either side to keep stuff plus it will have three safety features with two sets of locks and being hard mounted. My only concerns are a box made for a home shop like this one not holding up to being mounted on a trailer, and the small lip around door blocking the bottom drawer.:headscrat

Here are some pictures of the boxes on the trailer for reference

I currently have a 3 drawer mid section in one of my long boxes , in my utility truck Its a non ball bearing had it for 3 yrs in there with no issues with lots of heavy wrenches in it. Only thing I find is the vbration from all the road miles loosen or unscrews EVERYTHING. I set it on a piece of 3/4" plywood to get the bottom drawer above the lip of the cabimet. works good. The only complaint is you have to be quick opening the drawers in the rain, stuff gets wet and stays wet .

After looking around i'm thinking that something like these will fit if you remove the top lid. Just not 100% sure how I should do drawer layout yet, not sure what is the best way to secure and organize sockets. Can you get away with hansen trays or do you need the the metal strips? Really thinking about the craftsman box because you can get it cheap with craftsman club, and there are two of them local so I can get some measurements

Plan to put a winch, battery, etc up on the neck. I'd love one of those angled boxes where my chain box it, but I use it to much and there is **** in the way.

You still have Craftsman Club there? It's been done away with here and replaced with Shop your way reward points.

Well after going out to the trailer and my shop I got some measurements. Looking like i'm gonna have to run a intermediate box that is under 14in tall because of opening for box:sad:

It will either be a c-man mid chest or I might spring for an actual underbody tool box with drawers. This weekend I slashed one of my 42in tires on the jeep at 1am, made me rethink the tool chest set-up a little bit pulling off a giant tire in the woods
