I purchased a camp that had a home on it at one time. The home was gone when I bought it. The previous owner had power coming from a meter on a pole underground to another pole where the home was. On this pole is a breaker box ( exposed and outside). The power then goes from the breaker box back under ground to another breaker box in a barn. Both runs use 2-2-2 direct burial wire. I want to get rid of the pole with the breaker box outside. Is there a safe way to splice the cables that will be under ground or do they make an underground junction box ? There will be occasional vehicle traffic over the area where the junction box would be.

You can use a direct bury splice kit, no junction box is needed.
i did this with my new build... i got two lengths of armored cable really cheap and got a junction box and stuck it all together... but to go a step further i encased it in concrete just to be sure... dont forget it that box gets damaged or if it fails in any way and the ground is wet, well there could be fire or worse than that even

Yes, its coated. its just to make sure there is no movement of the cable as it enters the box and keep the whole joint square and solid
