Looking for a good underhood light. Not a trouble light, but one that spans the whole hood. So....anyone have any experienced suggestions for these questions?

1. Brand?
2. LED or flourescent?
3. I want corded as I have no need for cordless and hate to replace batteries, but any reason to go cordless?
4. Anything else I'm missing?

One of the best under hood lights i've ever seen are on the late 90's Full Size Chevy Pickup trucks... They were a nice under hood light, but the light was removeable, and had a 10' cord so that you could take it as a work light.

How about mounting a 4ft flourescent light on a 10ft conduit, bend the ends so it will rap around the hood, cover the conduit with pipe wrap.

1) Doesn't matter a whole lot, but I think the ATD light that I have offers a lot for the money.

2) Fluorescent. LED isn't really ready for real use yet.

3) Corded, definitely

4) You will not believe how much better one of these will make your life. The brackets that allow it to hang from under the hood also allow you to hang it from the roof of the car for interior work (windows down), from a roll cage, double as feet for sliding it under the car, etc. I cannot imagine living without one now. One of the best-value $100 I've ever spent on tools.

I have the ATD-80050 Sabre Light
