unidentified air compressor

I have an old air compressor that was given to me. I runs fine but at the oil seal around the shaft that drive the cylinders. I am attempting to get a new seal but everyone starts out by asking me what type compressor it is. Here are some pictures that might help with the ID.

Why don't you get some gasket paper-cardboard material and make your own ? Don't forget to use some Indian Head shellac on reassembly.

I took the cover to the oil reservoir to a reasonably local air compressor shop. It is a small mom and pop business. They confirmed that it is an Campbell Hausfeld VT series compressor. They had an oil seal that should work. The folks at the CH dealer still have not IDed it.

The seal I needed went around the shaft but I also need to replace the gasket. I picked up one at the shop I found. I am new at this so what is this Indian Head shellac and do I have to coat the paper gasket with it when I put the cover back on?

It's gasket sealer.

Campbell - Hausfeld. Sears used to sell them, and Graingers (Dayton) had parts for them at one time.
