Unidentified Industrial Workbench

Good Morning fellow cavemen. I have been browsing the forums for a while and have yet to pop my thread cherry. I figured I will start with this one.

I picked up this Industrial workstation today off Craigslist (for free). It is 36" X 24" with a SOLID 1" aluminum worktop, and it weighs somewhere around 200 lbs. It has a power strip, Simpson model 54 amp meter, and a few other wired terminals for plugging in devices. Also, there are two red indicator lights. I have spent the last 4-5 hours researching, with no luck.

My instincts tell me this is an electronics assembly or testing workstation. Possibly a proprietary design? You can still see the Blanchard ground marks on the underside of the tabletop, so experience says these people meant business.

Anyone ever seen something like this? Thoughts on a maker? Also, what would you guys use it for?

I thought about making it a small part stainless tig table and adding some storage above and below. I also thought about partially enclosing, putting a pull out dust tray, and bolting down a new belt an disc grinder.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Not sure who makes it, but i like it! That would make a nice TIG table for small parts.

Welcome to the board, buddy!

If it's cast aluminum (like mic-6) it would be more resilient to damage, but it's really hard to determine without Bill Nye. Never used an aluminum welding table. I feel like 1" solid would be tough to warp. Thoughts?

What is the gauge for? And what is that other control box?

Look for the maker nameplate under the electrical stuff. If you can't even find the rivet holes where it was, it is either custom or customized.

There isn't a rivet hole in sight. The Simpson meter is an amp meter. It reads 1-10 amps. Sorry big bad dad... I'll try and keep my comments PG :). Aside from that I guess I'll just break it down, throw some dark gray powder on it, piece her back together, and call it a day.

My guess is the aluminum was a modification. As mentioned above, if it's got Blanchard marks, it's highly likely to be Mic-6 cast tooling plate.

I suspect it was built up by some company for their internal use. The basic bench they bought, but the rest was done for some specific manufacturing or test process.
