Hey all,
I have been in back and forth debate on what to do. I am not insulating the pole barn as it is not going to be a long term place for me and I'm only out there to workout or work on a project car. I know its the best method but I'm just not spending the money when I will be moving within 5 years anyway.
That being said my little kerosene heaters aren't doing much of anything. I have natural gas on the property and can get in in the garage pretty easily. The garage is 28x32 and I live in PA so it does get fairly cold.
I work in construction and can probably get a second hand forced air furnace off one of the guys and try to rig that up in there with minimal duct work. Even thought about using flex duct so I can aim the heat in the particular areas I'm working in. Aside from that I would consider pretty much any option that uses natural gas (or other fuel source if theres an advantage) that could heat the space while I'm working out there. I have considered the mr. heater ideas as well but I'm not even sure if that would be the best method because I don't neccessarily need the whole space heated and I don't want to be blowing through fuel when the heat is just going to escape anyway. Maybe it's not as bad as I think but the structure just doesn't seem efficient for much more than heating particular work space.
