the other day i was shopping around for tools to bring to the track with me & i wanted something different so plunked down the cash for a Unior 1/2" drive socket set. they sure look pretty, it's a shame to use them, the case is well made & organized, i won't have trouble keeping them in place.

i have had good memories of these tools when i was a young teenager learning automotive tech, the school i went to had them & i was very pleased with the quality & design of the tools so i started collecting them out of my meager allowance & income. too bad most of the wrenches i bought were lost due to people not returning them & negligence.

a friend let me borrow his Craftsman 260pc mechanics set for 2 years which i used to bring along until he bought a van & needed the tools back, as good as the Craftsman was it lacked the wrench & socket sizes i needed so here i am now starting over from scratch. next on the agenda is their 3/8" & 1/4" socket sets & after that some pliers, screw drivers & hook wrenches.

as funds become available i'll slowly build up my arsenal of Unior tools, i'll keep this thread updated every time i purchase their stuff.

Nice set - hadn't heard of Unior before, but am in the market for large metric sockets and that set is intriguing. How long is the flex handle?

Oh *that* thread. I swore off that thread when I realized I could replace my current toolbox with glorious european craftsmanship for about 10x the price. (but it'd be worth it?)

That said, anybody carry Unior in the states?

it's 15" from end to end for the flex handle, 11.75" for the breaker bar. it is made in Slovenia, go check out their website. http://www.uniortools.com/

this is their USA distributor

the socket set i bought is the new look, at least for the case, ratchets & handles, the sockets & wrenches are still the same as i remember many years ago. why change something that is proven right?

forgot to add, i paid $200 for the 1/2" socket set & $10 for the plastic hammer, the 1/4" socket set is $75 & the 3/8" socket set is $150, tired of buying chinese junk that keep breaking, costs me more long term.

you might get them cheaper in the USA though, over here everything imported is overpriced except china junk, i buy most of my motorcycle spare parts in the USA because it's cheaper there.

Unior 1/4" drive socket set

4mm to 13mm sockets
flex handle
ratchet handle
breaker handle
long & short extensions

these are the old version, the new versions come with a blue handle & better case but this will do very nicely.

I also have not heard of Unior. They have a nice look to them. Only problem I see is the more of their tools you get, your pics get blurrier:lol_hitti

They look very nice, how comfortable are the screwdriver handles?

only used a flat screwdriver once yesterday turning a rebound adjuster on a ZX10R fork, they feel just the same as any screwdriver i used because i only use fingers, when gripping them to do heavy duty turning the handles fill my palms & fingers well, it feels quite comfy compared to ribbed screwdrivers. :)

oh so that is what you meant, i feel stupid. LOL

i can't say for sure if all of their stuff is made in slovenia, i'll try to ask them about that. all the stuff i bought at the moment have a "made in slovenia" sticker on the box.

ok i got a reply from Unior at their facebook page.

Unior Tools said:
Thank you for message. We have four large production facilities in Slovenia and majority of tools are made in house. We also produce our own steel and offer life time warranty. And yes, Unior is more known in Europe than USA at the moment.

i guess that answers most of the COO questions.

Unior tools are top notch. I definitely know they are made in a Slavic nation so Slovenia sounds about right.

Happy New Year!

i mean it's the screwdriver, anyway for what i'll be using it on it's not that ******** so i feel a bit better now.

having a hard time locating a set of Unior combination wrenches, all they have left here is individual pieces & it'll cost more buying every single one i need.

was looking to buy Unior allen & torx key wrenches but settled on Beargrip instead, wasn't disappointed one bit, they are still great tools.

happy new year to you too. :D

btw i love your micrometer & bore gauges.
