Unique 1/4 drive sockets?

It seems like most 1/4 drive sets go from 4mm to 14mm, shallow and deep, and swivels. Done. But there are odd sockets out there like the super shallow Koken Zeal sockets and the 16mm SK. What else? What other interesting and useful 1/4 drive sockets are out there?

I've seen a really big ~30mm 1/4 socket with the black finish that impact sockets get (don't know if it was actually an impact socket). It was probably a custom made tool so interesting maybe, useful? Probably not to anyone except for whatever specific task the creator made it for.

Here’s a useful chart from KoKen showing what’s available in each drive size!

Fill yer boots!

SK makes a 5/8" socket in 1/4" drive. Others may also but it's not real common.

Flip sockets in 1/4" square drive are made in
11-12mm 6 pt (TPMS application)
8-10mm 12pt
9-11mm 12pt
12-14mm 12pt

I would love an 8/10 flip in 6pt for working on motorcycles.

Search: 8 10 flip socket. Plenty of options.

I like my 1/4: turbo sockets in 1/4mm increments, koken zeal, koken nut-grip, Matco 6 point spline, snap on flank drive Xtra (awesome product), semi-deeps, VIM 1/2 cut torx, probably some other good ones I'm forgetting. 15mm is very useful in general.

I can find Sunex and Snap On flips in 8/10 but they're both 12 point. My google skills seem to be weak.

I did find a 6.3mm SK socket, so slightly below 1/4. Odd.

11mm outer hex pass through(ish). The pattern is made by a Taiwanese company and sold by Facom/USAG, Wera, Würth, Deen, Matco, Tone, KS Tools, and probably others. All Metric only except Matco, who have both as well as etorx and torx plus.

Snapon makes a knockoff of sorts as well, in metric and 12pt inch.

The advantage is they’re much shorter, even compared to Zeal.

Sorry to get your hopes up, I missed the 6pt requirement. I dont understand why they'd only make 12. Perhaps for the dealer guys who, in theory, should see cleaner fasteners?

Do you work on exceedingly rusty bikes? No reason to shy away from an 8/10 flip for under $10 from Sunex.

Mostly small race bikes right now so no rust, but 6pts seem to preserve the factory finish on the bolt heads longer and since you can see the bolts on a motorcycle, it's nice if they look pretty.

Koken are even shallower.

If you can get past the skipped sizes, Koken will really impress you.

Are you talking about the 150-10H sockets?

https://palmac.net/koken-150-10h-10-10mm-hex-drive-socket-10mm-6-point-drive-end/

They do appear to be a bit shallower when used with the special wrench but it's a plate type ratchet instead of the Snappy ratchet. The Snap On sockets also appear to have a 1/4 drive on the off end while the Koken ones are pass though.
