Hi

Looking for some advice. I'm building a 1500sqft building to work on my cars. I'll have a 2 post lift and all the goodies. I really would like to get a neat unique look. I love the metallic options but have been told metallic is not strong enough for this type of garage. I also don't see many examples in working garages. I'm board of the fleck looking garage

Can anyone recommend any products that would stand up to a high level of abuse but also have a unique artistic look?

Acid stain or metallic epoxy.

Very interested to see what you end up with. I'm also tired of the speckled painted floors and would like to find something "different".

Or that? Yes, I know it's an interior floor but it's the same stuff.

Very durable. I was messing with it the other day and was sanding the poly clear coat with some sandpaper. It started to wear down the sandpaper without scratching the floor.

Don't want to dissuade you from picking a metallic floor. However, if you really use your garage to work on cars and motorcycles, dragging jacks, dropping stuff, dragging stuff then look at a flake epoxy floor, in a lighter color. Talking from experience, I have both and the flake floor looks like new, the metallic has some scuffs, scratches, etc... Still holding up but visibly scarred from rough and tumble activities. My 2 cents.

I'd say screws and nuts stand out more on the metallic than a regular concrete floor as they blend in more with a plain floor. I haven't noticed a difference one way or another really.

Def the flake is more durable as there's just a whole lot more material there, but if you have a polyurethane with some aggregate laid down as a top coat the metallic holds up really well. I hadn't laid down the topcoat in that one garage pic.

I would love something like this but have no idea on how it's done or cost.

That looks awesome bit it doesn't strike me much as a 'working' garage though. Glass cabinet doors near the floor? Yikes.

I am guessing it is just two different color basecoats, one gets taped off then the other one goes down, pull tape and add flakes/clear.

Ant- looks nice
What is the product you used? How much did you need? How did you prep concrete?
thanks Mike

The guy that said it before was correct, it is pure metallic product. They have kits on-line that tell you how much product. Like most epoxy, it's not really an easy process for a fist time diy. I shot blasted the floor.

Tough to tell what is down there since the resolution is low. Maybe flake? That's a lot of taping.

I was looking at the pure metallic stuff then hoping to put an industrial grade top over it but was told that would not work. You guys seem to disagree? What clear/top would you use?

They offer several top coats. Their high wear urethane is great for a garage.
