Unistrut install for Unit heater

Hey, could you take a look at this unistrut install for my Reznor heater.

I made an exact template of the top of the Reznor heater and mounting holes out of mdf and matched the allthread to the holes in the template. I only want to see the allthread coming through the drywall. The unistrut is sitting on top of thick rubber washers then the joists and either attached with angle bracket dampened with rubber washers top and bottom or small lags again, dampened with rubber washers.

Probably over kill. I'm worried about threading the allthread into the top of the Reznor. If I have to I can use some 3/8 connector to marry the two. With loctite of course. Am I missing something?

I purposefully left the angle brackets about half an inch from the unistrut to make sure there was no metal on metal to buzz or otherwise annoy me.

I think you're going to want to constrain the position of the channel nuts by placing a washer and nut on the bottom of the strut channel and locking the strut channel nut in position that way. Otherwise, it seems very likely to move during the drywall process and you don't want to be futzing around with cutting a drywall hole (even above a heater) after all this planning.

Good call. The allthread does move a bit as it's held in with those spring nuts. I did turn them in all the way to meet the solid top part of the unistrut but locking them in with a nut and washer is probably a good idea. Hope that doesnt jack up the position of the allthread too much.

The Reznors have threaded 3/8 holes in the top to suspend them with unistrut and allthread. My install is like this but the unistrut is sitting on top of the joists so you dont see them.

If the Reznor has threaded holes in it's top, how are you going to turn in the all-thread rod, without unscrewing it from the Uni-Strut?

You would need some short of "union" to join 2 pieces of right-hand 3/8" threaded rods together.

Have never seen such an animal

I was going to use these just need to make sure there's enough all-thread in all three connection points.

I hung my reznor but didn't even use unistrut. I just used 2x4 and as others have said, I locked the allthread to the 2x4 using large washers and 2 nuts (jam fashion).

Gotcha. I see now - you run the all-thread down into the Reznor a few inches, then back it out and thread it into the rod couplings

Screw rods into heater with a jamnut. Nut, oversize washer or strut washer & either a spring nut or washer and nut thru holes in strut to lock the rod down.
