unistrut mounting question

got this 3 unistrut floor mount I was wondering is there a specific way to bolt this in. the opposite way in the first pic would use a capture nut. The "same" way would use a 1/2 bolt and nut on the inside of the strut. The holes are on 3 sides of the mount so it seems it would fit at least 3 sides.

also, the weld is very nice but damn, it is warped. Not sure if I if I should put it upside down on the press and squeeze against the flange a little? or not worth the effect?
it is going on my workbench to make a frame for a hutch.

Most people use unistrut spring nuts. That way you don't have to hold the nut while you tighten it.

spring nuts ****-use twirl nuts-would always use 3/8" hardware with fender washers and lock washers--Get a 9/16" klein nut driver/9/16" deep well and a 9/16" ratcheting wrench--as the other guy said --It's strut!!!

Can’t go wrong with Unistrut brand. They have a catalogue that looks like a small phone book. Good stuff.

I just got the strut from home depot called super strut, their selection is very limited, just spring nut, L bracket and bolts.

Had to get this unistrut branded mount online.

all seemed quite expensive, picture don't give you the sense of the size of these things, but.. once I got to lift this stuff up, seems price is fair.

Your left picture is the correct way to mount it to the floor flange.

I agree with Mark....skip the spring nuts and get the nylon cone type; much easier to work with.

Zoro, MSC and McMaster have a good selection of hardware. Using the grainger catalog with zoro makes the selection process easier.

If you need to use the full length of the strut for attaching something, turn the mounting bracket so the strut is open. If not, then it does not matter which way you turn it.

IF you are going to bolt it down, most cases the base plate will straighten out. Remider, position the uprights so they can be utilized for a shelf bottom. Unistrut is awesome stuff. They have so many accessories it's amazing .
