Unit heater placement near overhead door

New workshop, the bay I'm heating has a sloped ceiling side to side, ~16 ft high on the high side, 30 ft long. I'm installing a 50k btu natural gas unit heater, trying to figure out where to place it. The overhead door is 12Hx10W, and the gas line comes into the building right beside it. I'd planned to install the heater next to the door, and the instructions don't mention anything about side-to-side clearance, but I'm wondering if it should above the door tracks? Below? Even with (it would be tight, but there's room)? I'd rather not move it to a completely different end of the room since I'd have to run gas line in the wall/ceiling the whole way. What height is optimal in a tall room anyway? 8' high is the minimum per instructions, maybe it should go about there so my hot air isn't all starting way up near the ceiling? There will be a ceiling fan in the center of the room.

Various locations included in the pic for illustration purposes only. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I'm sure the instruction manual has clearances to combustibles, ceiling, floor etc . what brand is it?
Good point. It's a Mr Heater MHU50, instructions HERE. It mentions the 8' above floor and 18" in the rear, other than that I only see 1" of clearance mentioned anywhere. Oddly enough, it doesn't seem to mention clearance on the business end (the front) at all. I of course want to be safe, but even if the manufacturer has no cares about how close it blows hot air, I don't want to peel the paint off my new garage door by putting it right under there or something.

As long as it has clearance for air to move wouldn't get too uptight about it. Are you planning on running the heater a lot with the door open???

If you mount it under the door can you move it over far enough that you don't run into it with a camper or a large trailer?

My system is mounted in a similar fashion, except mine is hung at the end of the door tracks and the venting goes straight up.

remember, at some point you may have to clean it out. you may want to think about ease of access and if the highest point allows getting into it easily.

and the middle spot would be in the way to open it up from the rail.
