Alright.. So tonight, I was getting the children to help me organize my sockets and stuff and I came across this Proto 7470p 1/2" universal with my 3/4" Socket stuck on it! Now I seem to remember then retention ball on it is not actually a ball, but a pin.. This is the bare universal. http://www.blackbookoftools.com/productimages/PRO7470P.jpg

I cant for the life of me get these 2 pieces seperated.. Ive tried prying them apart. Nothing seems to work..

Any Ideas? Secrets I should know about?

Thanks!

James

push and pull randomly jiggle it back and forth.or lock the socket in a vise with the universal pointed down and get a punch in thru the middle of the socket and smack it with a hammer. about all you can do to get apart short of cutting it off with a torch.

Pin it to your impact, and pull on the socket while you run the impact (Wear a leather glove). I've got one of those universals and I'm constantly forgetting to line up the hole in the socket with the pin. The impact trick has never failed me.
