Hello, Everyone

I have been looking at getting a set of universal/wobble sockets for awhile now. I am just curious as what the better choice is using 12pt. or 6pt. I work as a hd mechanic and most of the fasteners I come across are 6pt. about the only 12pt are starter bolts and cyl. head bolts. Would just like input to know if one is superior or has more longevity than the other. Also would like to buy one kind and be done. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Jon

Hands down 6pt. More chance of not getting completely on the head with 12 pt and rounding the bolt off. I have 12pt sockets for the few things that need them as stated flywheels and head bolts.

Serious question: how much of a problem is rounding with 12 point universals? Chrome, at least...

For me it's rare to need a 12 point. If I did I could get by with a swivel adapter and shallow socket. If you're going to work on powerstroke turbos you might need a 5/16 (8mm) 12 point universal socket once in a blue moon.

If you are talking about the "Universal" sockets that fit like 8 different types of fastener heads, pick something else entirely. Only thing those are good for is stripping fasteners. 6 point sockets for 6 point fasteners.
