I'm trying to identify a peculiar tool. I've never seen one anywhere else. Check the pics and see what you think. The conclusion I've derived from other sources is that it's likely a stone gouge, but I found it at the bottom of a farmer's toolbox...
The only mark is a fractional "3/4" on the shank

None of the above? That may be a tool for tooling leather. (It's awful short for any serious working on the materials you listed.)

I think Outlaw is right. That looks like a leather working stamp to me.I can't really see it being used for stone or wood or even ice.

I think we have a consensus. Others are now suggesting that it's a forming or stamping tool for leather...
Thanks Much!

hiding in your closet...
hmm... considering this "tool" was found at bottom of farmer's toolbox, and a leather tool would most likely be part of a set, not solo...

...during a sushi lunch today, it became obvious to me that this tool was intended to peel cucumbers in a decorative fashion (for salad presentation).

;)

But you would expect to find a cucumber cutter in a farmers tool box? :wtf:

If you had any idea how many singleton leather tools I've bought in the past 7-8 years...

It's used with a wooden mallet to castrate bulls.

Puts me in mind of what I used to scrape inside of coconuts while sitting on a wooden box years ago.
