I found this vise in my parents house helping them move out. It says Made In England and Skylux London on the base. I tried looking up Skylux vises and can’t find anything. Very hard to find anything about Skylux tools in general. I’ve only been able to find two tools made by Skylux Limited, the No. 2 pipe cutter and electricians shade ring pliers. Does anyone know anything about this vise? I have yet to see anything like it on the web. Any help or input is much appreciated!Image[65].jpegImage[46].jpegImage[39].jpegImage[22].jpeg

Location
UK, Cornwall/Hertfordshire.
Probably Skylux Engineers, 22 Great Saint Andrew Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, London W.C.2.; of 91-93 Clerkenwell Rd., London, E.C.1.

They made a Pipe Pusher device, and a garden sun lounger. Any connections to these in your family? Are you able to ask your parents about it?

Hang on a while and I may be able to find out a bit more about them..!

Interesting! I believe the man my parents bought the house from was an Engineer, although I’m not sure what type or if he was ever in England.

My mother is British but it certainly wouldn’t be hers, however I will run it by her to see she recognizes it or possibly knows the backstory of the person who lived there before.

Well, maybe your Mother will know some backstory, but so far all I can find is the Grace's Guide entry. As The Cobbler observes it's probably a low volume production item. I suspect everything made by Skylux was 'low volume production'!
You don't give your location, but if it is America then maybe the Skylux inventor emigrated and decided to try his luck there and then eventually sold his house to your parents...!

Thank you for the information and help! Unfortunately, my Mother doesn't remember much from the previous owner so that was a dead end. I am located in the states, and I believe you are on the right path with emigration theory! I will likely clean it up with a fresh red coat of paint and keep it for light-use, if any!

I had a mate who recently passed away and I had the pleasure of cleaning out his garage. I found the exact same vice there, he was an electrician and originally from Rhodesia. I dont think the vice travelled with him from there . Long story short I've undertaken to restore it. See attached photos.
