Hello everyone,

I picked this 1" heavy duty air impact wrench from a local tool auction for 5$ :D and let me tell you guys this thing is a BEAST, and is super heavy, I bought a 1" to 3/8" reducer to be able to use it with my air hose, I am using Milton H style 3/8" plug with 1/2" air hose, and a 5HP, 2 stage 60gallon air compressor with 16CFM@90PSI, but anyway, I tried it today to remove old rusted lugs from a vehicle that other impact wrenches couldn't even move, OHHH boy this thing busted them ******* in 2 seconds and I am using only the first notch on the gun.

what impressed me the most is that my compressor didn't even kick in after removing all 4 wheels!!!! what the HELL!! I really thought that my compressor would struggle to keep up with this impact wrench but no :headscrat

my question is: what make is this wrench? it was well used so all the references to the manufacturer were removed, all what is stamped on it is that it is made in japan with 9901P as model number, I looked it up online I don't seem to find anything with 9901P. I would like to get a manual or any kind of info about air requirement (I used 100PSI at the regulator), maintenance...etc.

if anyone owned this gun or knows anything about it please let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

sorry for large pictures.

Hi,nice impact, I have seen these before ,long time ago. back in the early 1980s,
I am sure they were supplied by a company called DRAPER, they were made in Japan, and came finished in either, silver metal or painted blue,
I think they date back from the late 1970s.
And if I remember correctely, on the top plate, there are four threaded holes, I beleive that these were for a selection of axtra add on,s. for example an hanlde for extra grip, and / or a harness for manufacturing plants,

hello, thank you for the reply, do you have any idea about what is the ideal air setting for this gun, I know most air tools are set to work with 90PSI. but since this is not your regular craftsman, I am not sure how to set it up. and I just can't find any info online, if this is a 30 years old gun then I guess I am out of luck.

Hi. Yep,they were designed to work with 90 PSI, 6 to 7 bar, constant air flow,
Its really frustrating as I have a owners manual somewhere for one of these, I have looked all over the workshop for it, I will keep looking,
Great tool. I remember we all were issued one each of these in the workshop back in the day, have not seen one for years, nice one buddy,

I used a variety of Japanese air and electric tools in manufacturing environments. I was an engineer who used to research specs, test, and buy power tools. As Brucey stated, the Japanese made fantastic power tools. We always tried to buy American, but in some applications the Japanese tools were the perfect solution.
