Before I go search through every wrench in my collection, does anybody recognize this design and what manufacturer? All four came out of the same lot and look very similar. From top (nearest to the tape) to bottom, #2, #71, #26, #10...

I don't believe so. Most of theirs are raised plate that the lettering is on. Also, the older ones that have a similar indention for the lettering have ends that come to a point where these are rounded. That said, I'm gonna go search through my Duro-Indestro wrenches and see if there's a match

Id go thru the Duro Indestro thread on the vintage board. There is probably a larger diversity than in any one person's collection accumulation.

The drop forged USA script looks identical to some of the "cheaper" Indestros. I have a picture somewhere of the set in my work truck.

AAAGH...so somehow I stumbled across a thread from last year, wherein somebody was trying to find a manufacturer of some wrenches. The wrenches looked very similar to mine. The OP was referred to look at the VLCHEK page on AA. The original poster stated he discovered the exact wrench on image 180. I followed the link but there was no VLCHEK wrench for image 180. Now I can't find that post anywhere on GJ...

Can You Identify These Vintage Made in USA Drop Forged Open End Wrenches

I recent bought an assorted lot of tools. When sorting and cleaning them, I found these open end wrenches marked "DROP FORGED" on one side and "MADE IN USA" on the other side. They are in very usable condition. Any idea who made these? I did not know where to start on Alloy Artifacts.

But, perseverance pays off with a complete review of the entire VLCHEK article and images (figures) 208-211. The look and description of the VLCHEK 1949 Panel Bar wrenches matches my wrenches above with the slightest exception that my "panel bar" extends further than the AA images. Upland Forge wrenches were made in Upland Pennsylvania by Upland industries.
Defunct in the mid 60's the plant lived on as Chesco Products eventually owed by Irwin making Allen Wrenches.
Most of the hand tools were made under US government contract of the armed services.
