Hello..... I am new to the site so may I appologize if I'm posting incorrectly. But here goes.....
I have happily aquired my Father-in-Laws PRENTISS VISE !
I am trying to find out its age and model if possible. It is in great shape just covered with at least maybe three different coats of paint. The pin that is supposed to pull out as to move the swivel jaw does not want to be removed....stubborn like me I guess. On the left side of the moving jaw it says PRENTISS in a small downward arc and below it is NEW YORK. On the other side of the moving jaw it has 2 1/2 - 19 1/2. There are no other visible markings. It has 4" jaws and a spring loaded button style releasing pin for the swivel base. From the front to back on the moving jaw casting it measures 14 3/4". That includes the little lip that sticks out slightly above the screw/handle. It measures a total of 8 1/2" high. It has like square shaped replaceable jaws. Also the pin thats supposed to pull out as to swivel the jaw has a groove machined into it too.
If anyone could shed any light on its model and year of manufacturing it would be greatly appreciated. I hope I'm not out of bounds here ?
Thank you in advance for any help

Removing the swivel pin is pretty straightforward. Unscrew the dynamic jaw and remove it. Turn the vise upside down and remove the base by unscrewing the big bolt (it's a bolt on my Prentiss), and remove the base. Using your flashlight you should be able to see the underside of the hole the swivel pin sits in. Use a long punch and tap the pin out from the bottom. Now degrease the vise and paint it your favorite color before you put it back together.
