Once again I have no idea what this is or what it could be used for. I do appreciate everyone's help with these things I'm finding as I clean out my workshops. thanks.

A lot of smart people will tell you you cant fit a round peg in a square hole, but if you have one of these adapters, you totally can.

If you had the missing piece that the square peg slides into or the round hole slides over, it would be a dead give-away.

Is the hole tapered, if so it could be part of a 5C collet system. Also it comes to mind of a fixture to set up CNC tooling.
