So, Today is my birthday and my beautiful bride picked me up a new toolbox because I am in serious need of a more tool storage (No BS). Any who she meets me for lunch and shows it to me sitting in the back of her Minivan.

Question is: any tips for unloading by myself? It is laying down with the wheel faced out so I am thinking I might be able to slide it out anddrop it wheels first. Am I an idiot for trying this? Are they as heavy as they look?

Minivan bumper sits pretty low. Here's what I'd do in that situation.

un crate it as much as possible. Put down a moving blanket or similar, angle it down till you can either get it to slide on the blanket or till you get the wheels on the ground. From there it should be easy to get the back end out.

I did mine myself from the truck bed a similar way. I just backed up to a nearby hill where the tailgate is about 2" above the ground level on the hill and essentially rolled it off.

I'm sure it will work..you might try to take the drawers out if you can..I'm guessing a minivan doesn't sit that high anyways

Have a person on each side slide it out till it hits the ground then lean it up till its on all 4 wheels. Simple as that. I got my craftsman 41" box into and out of the bed of my silverado this way with just one other person and minimal effort on our part

I just got one the other day, my pick up sits pretty dang high (higher than a stock F150 4x4 and as high if not higher than a 2500hd chevy) and a friend and I just eased it out together onto a moving blanket and then a convertible hand truck.

Mini van should make it super easy to do yourself. Id unbox all the wood off it but leave the cardboard to protect it.

Gravity is your friend. Put an old blanket down. on the ground and a beach towel over the back edge of the Mini van. It will pull off with one hand. It does not matter if you have it standing up on end. Lock the bottom wheels and just pull over towards you. If they don't lock make sure some one is on the other end so it does not roll away form you. A piece of wood will work. I load and unload Pianos by myself. It is not hard. Then again I can pick one end of an upright piano by myself and slide a dolly under with one of my feet. All those bales of hay I tossed as a kid. LOL

Slide that sucker out until gravity makes it stand up...

Pull it the rest of way toward vertical...

And then...

Roll it on in...

Simple...

I pulled mine out of the back of a kia soul alone.. it was not really bad. Its not like you have to lift all the weight of the box. slide it out set and end down slide out some more pretty easy..

Well... The slide down and let gravity do it's thing was the winner. As some one said before. It's heavy but not oh **** heavy.

As info, I wanted to try the reverse/brake technique but the wife said no.

She also said no to driving a rollback as a daily driver. What can I say, she is selfish.
